Terms & Conditions

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Please make sure you read and understand the information in this "ELH Terms and Conditions" document before you register, agree to join the school and pay for your course.
Once you have chosen your classes and paid for the lessons these lessons are booked for you and you may not be able to change your mind. You may be able to add lessons to your timetable but you may not be able to deduct lessons after your course start date. Your course start and finish dates are shown on the timetable we will give you after you pay. ELH will only change your timetable of lessons if your level has improved and you can change to a higher level. ELH will not refund or reschedule lessons that students miss.
When you complete your New Student Registration form you will be asked to sign to say you agree to our "Terms and Conditions".

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR ADULT STUDENT REGISTRATION, PAYMENT AND RE-ENROLMENT

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Please make sure you understand the information on this page before you register and pay for your course.

INITIAL STUDENT ENQUIRY

Students initially contact English Language House (ELH) mostly by telephone, by email, through a website, or they visit us at the ELH office.
When you contact us we will email you all the relevant information so you can:
i) decide what you prefer,
ii) talk to us if you want help and advice to decide what is best for you,
iii) register with ELH and
v) choose the study programme that is best for you

If you book and pay through the langart website we will contact you to confirm your course.

FLEXIBILITY and CHOICE for students

English Language House (ELH) has very flexible programmes of study and students can choose:

What course they prefer

What classes they prefer

What dates they want to study

If they want to do an exam as part of their course

How much they want to pay

HOW ELH CAN HELP students decide

When a student first contacts ELH we will email them information with links to:

the Course/s they are interested in.

the Dates and Fees of the course/s they are interested in.

The ELH terms and conditions

The New Student Registration form

Students can look at the information we send and decide what they prefer or they can book an appointment to speak to us at the ELH Office to discuss their personal language needs and then decide what is best for them. Students who cannot come to the ELH Office can book an online appointment via Skype or WhatsApp. Our Skype name is elhoffice

During your appointment we can:

i) talk to you about your language needs and language goals,
ii) suggest which classes might best meet those needs,
iii) assess your current language level, iv) talk to you about courses and study programmes that might be suitable for you,
v) explain how you can register and pay for classes and
vi) help you decide what is best for you.

We can also explain the rules about absence from lessons that are in the "ELH Terms and Conditions". It is important that you understand these.

APPROVED AND UNAPPROVED LEAVE

Sometimes students cannot come to all the classes during the course dates they want to book. Students who know they will be absent must tell us in advance and before they book their course programme and pay their course fees. They must also give us the dates they will be absent. ELH can then give these students "approved leave" and will not include the dates the student has given in the course fees and in the student timetable. Teachers will also know not to expect the student on these days.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

If you know that you will absent from lessons on any day/s during the course dates you want to book you must discuss this with the Director of Administration before you book and pay for your course.

If a student does not have "approved leave" and he/she does not go to their lessons, this is "unapproved leave" and the student will be considered absent from class. Missing classes for any reason is considered an absence and missed classes cannot be rescheduled or refunded.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR VISA STUDENTS:
Visa students must make sure they are not absent from classes and fall below 80% attendance.

HOW TO REGISTER

Fill in the New Student Registration Form and

Pay the Registration fee

About the Registration Fee

INITIAL REGISTRATION

When a student joins ELH for the first time they:

ELH will inform the student about the cost of this study programme and send an invoice for the course fees

After this the student must:

pay by the due date as shown on the invoice

Once payment has been received, ELH will issue the student with a Receipt and a Student Timetable.
Then the student can start attending his/her classes.

PLEASE NOTE THAT teachers will ask to see a student's receipt and timetable, especially if this student is new to the class. If a student does not have a receipt and timetable for this class, the teacher could ask the student to leave the lesson and return with these.

HOW TO RE-ENROL

Students who want to add classes to their study programme or continue with more classes after the end of their current study programme can re-enrol by:

Students who start a course and decide not to continue cannot get a refund of the course fees.

In “exceptional circumstances” or if ELH has to postpone, re-schedule or cancel a course due to insufficient numbers, students will be given a credit note to be used for alternative or future courses.

Exceptional circumstances: students must explain in writing in advance of the day/s they are unable to attend the “exceptional circumstances” they want ELH to consider.

REFUNDS AND CANCELLATIONS

ELH will give the following refunds only:

Refunds for visa students:

A refund will only be made if the visa student contacts ELH within 3 months from the date of their "Letter of Acceptance" to request a refund and provide evidence that their visa has not been granted; sending their "visa rejection letter" to ELH. It is the responsibility of the student to get their rejection letter from the UKVI.

In this instance refunds will be made as follows:

Students must make sure they send the date of their visa rejection letter no less than 14 days prior to their course start date.

Their course start date is the date shown on their "Letter of Acceptance".

Visa students who have paid “Full Course Fees” and have not been granted their visa will receive a refund of their course fees minus a visa administration charge of between £100 to £500.

The visa administration charge includes the registration fee of £39 and, if applicable, the accommodation placement fee of £45 which are non-refundable.

It does not include the first two weeks of the course and accommodation which we may charge if the visa rejection letter is sent less than 14 days before the start date of the course.

Visitor visa students who have paid a deposit and have not been granted their visa will receive no refund.

IMPORTANT: If a student cannot provide ELH with the evidence that they did not get their student visa ELH cannot give a refund.

Visa students who get a student visa to study at ELH and who decide not to continue their studies will not get a refund. ELH will need to report these students to the UKVI.

It is the responsibility of the student or the agent who has registered the student to contact ELH if there is any change in the student’s situation and/or a change or delay in the student’s start and/or finish dates. ELH needs to be informed of this in writing no less than 14 days prior to the student’s start date. If a student misses their start date and ELH has not been contacted, the student will be charged the course fee and, if applicable, the accommodation fee for the week/s they have missed. ELH will also have to report the student to the UKVI.

Refunds for non-visa students:

Non visa students are students that do not need a "Letter of Acceptance" or CAS to study at English Language House.

For fees paid for a 5 week course or less there is no refund.

For fees paid for 6 weeks or more a 50% refund will be given only if ELH receives no less than four weeks’ notice in writing before the start date of the student’s course. The start date is the date of the student’s first class.

After the start date of their course students will not receive a refund. In the event that a course is cancelled due to insufficient numbers students will be given a credit note to be used for alternative or future courses
