The General English course is ideal for students who are looking to develop the four primary English language skills: speaking, reading, writing and listening as well as sub-skills: grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Terms & Conditions
1. Payments policy
1.1: Applicants will receive an invoice listing the services requested. MULS also estimates the following fees:
A registration Fee of €25 (applicable to all applicants). A maximum of €5 as Eco-tax (mandatory government accommodation tax). Summer supplement for tuition (applicable from 22 June 2020 to 28 August 2020): 35 € per week. Summer supplement for accommodation (applicable from 22 June 2020 to 28 August 2020): 35 € per week. Written confirmation (for legal, academic or professional purposes): 50 € Course change fee (on request): 25 €
1.2: Applicants must pay the full amount for their booking. Applicants are required to send a deposit of 25% of the total amount in order to confirm their booking. The deposit must be paid within 5 working days of the invoice being issued to confirm the booking. The deposit will then be deducted from the total amount.
1.3: Applicants are required to pay the total amount of the course fees at least 14 working days before the start of the course or move into accommodation at Malta University Language School.
1.4: Applicants are only eligible for special conditions for long term stays and discounts if the total amount is paid in full in advance.
1.5: The MULS will not make refunds to students if their booking has already been confirmed.
1.6: Fees and expenses are not refundable. No refunds will be made for services not used. Should applicants or students request a rescheduling of their lessons, they must inform the MULS at least 5 working days in advance. Failure to do so will result in the classes not being rescheduled.
2. Visa refusals
2.1: A written consent for visa purposes can be given to a student of the MULS. The MULS will charge a non-refundable fee of 50 € for a written consent. Applicants who request a written confirmation must pay the total amount before a written confirmation can be issued by the MULS.
2.2: Should an applicant not be granted a student visa, he/she must notify the MULS of his/her inability to travel to Malta at least 30 days before arrival in Malta and present the official rejection letter to the MULS.
2.3: If the visa is not granted and a student has not informed the MULS at least 30 days before his/her arrival in Malta, the MULS will retain a cancellation fee of 275 € (including the written confirmation fee and 25 € registration fee) of the cost of the course and 100 € of the cost of accommodation. The MULS will then refund the remaining amount. The refund can only be made after presentation of the official rejection letter. If a student informs the MULS less than 30 days before arrival in Malta, the MULS will retain 13% of the total amount as an administrative fee. In addition, the MULS will retain a further 80% of the accommodation costs and 20% of the tuition costs. The MULS will then refund the balance to the student. The refund can only be made upon presentation of the official rejection letter for the student visa.
3. Services
3.1: The services are offered by MULS subject to availability. Applicants are therefore advised to book their course and accommodation as early as possible.
3.2: The MULS reserves the right to change the services offered without prior notification to the applicant, provided that the service offered is of the same standard or classification as that originally requested.
3.3: In the event that the restaurant does not open until later in the morning due to a lack of students, the student will be given breakfast so that he/she can eat it in his/her accommodation.
3.4: Even if the MULS makes every effort to hold classes in the morning, the MULS will occasionally move classes to the afternoon.
3.5: There will be no classes on public holidays. The MULS will compensate for this by offering 2 additional hours of General English Class instruction throughout the week. The following days are public holidays in Malta on days during the week:

3.6: In addition, the school will be closed for 2 weeks during Christmas vacation. In 2020 the winter break will start on 21 December and end on 1 January 2021, including both days.
3.7: In the event that there are 4 or less applicants in a course at the MULS, the MULS will automatically apply a “Daily Reduction Procedure” as described in the following table:

Reduction for two students – Reduction by 2 days per week (Semi-private)
Reduction with three or four students – Reduction by 1 day per week (small group)
4. Our Privacy Policy
4.8: The reduction of each day or half day, in terms of the number of hours, is based on the weekly number of hours offered in relation to the course in which the student is enrolled.
4.9: If the student does not wish such a “Daily Reduction Procedure” to be applied and wishes the number of hours to be increased, the student has the option of taking the full number of days (and hours per day) normally applicable, for an additional payment.
4.10: Should the student’s level of English fall below or above the level of the courses offered (beginner to advanced), the student will receive private lessons equivalent to the amount previously paid for the lessons.
4.11: The MULS keeps a daily attendance list, so students should be present in their classes regularly. Students with a visa who are regularly absent from their classes will receive an email warning of their absence, which will also be communicated to the Maltese Immigration Service.
4.12: Students will only be awarded a certificate of completion if they can show at least 75% or more attendance.
