B2 First (FCE)

B2 First, formerly known as Cambridge English: First (FCE) or First Certificate in English (FCE), is one of Cambridge English Qualifications, and it is the most popular one, accepted by thousands of businesses and educational institutions worldwide.

A B2 First qualification proves you have the language skills to live and work independently in an English-speaking country or study on courses taught in English. B2 First is at Level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

At B2 level, typical users can be expected to:

understand the main ideas of complex pieces of writing
keep up a conversation on a fairly wide range of topics, expressing opinions and presenting arguments
produce clear, detailed writing, expressing opinions and explaining the advantages and disadvantages of different points of view
