Goethe-Zertifikat C2: Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung (ZOP)

On 1st January 2012, Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung (ZOP) was replaced by the Goethe-Zertifikat C2: Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom exam.

 

The Goethe-Zertifikat C2: Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom (GDS) is a German exam for adults. It certifies that candidates have acquired extremely advanced language skills and corresponds to the sixth level (C2) on the six-level scale of competence laid down in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

 

After passing the Goethe-Zertifikat C2, you will be able to do the following, for example:

 

  • prove that you have excellent language skills,
  • perform a linguistic and stylistic analysis of both literary and scientific texts and satisfactorily answer questions on them,
  • master standard German to the highest level.

 

Recognition

The Goethe-Zertifikat C2 enables foreign students to be admitted to German universities, qualifying them for courses there in the social sciences and German.
